Amir Khan proved all the doubters wrong on Saturday night with an outstanding display....and the chin was as tough as they come

Amir Khan looked confident and comfortable on the huge Las Vegas stage on Saturday night is a 12 rounder against the toughest opponent in his division.  Khan knocked Maidana down in round 1 with a display of devastating body punches.

Maidana is no stranger to getting off the canvas, and with 25 wins coming by way of KO on his record as well as every dirty trick in the book (including elbowing the ref in round 5!!) he is one hard nut to crack.  Khan was sport on to take out his body early on.  The sparring Khan had done with Pacquiao most definitely paid off as he looked like a different fighter.

Credit must also go to trainer Freddie Roach who had visibly reduced the muscle bulk in Khans chest and focused on packing the power in his upper legs, raising doubts that Kahn ever had a dodgy chin in the first place.  Khan was seriously rocked in round 10 though, and another that extra leg stabilisation paid huge dividends, as it just about kept Khan upright and stopped the referee from calling it a night for him!

Khan danced for a couple more rounds, and will be dancing for a while to come after that display.  He’s going to need to be moving pretty fast again if Mayweather Jnr is to listen as Khan is now eying another big pay day.
